MY ANGEL
You held me close when I was young,
together we had so much fun.
Trips to the beach
on summer days.
Safe within your loving gaze.
There was only you and me,
in our small flat beside the sea.
although you raised me on your own
and made our flat a loving home.
But sadly you were taken from me
and our small flat beside the sea.
I was only nine years old.
"Gone to a better place",
I was told.
In an instant my world was torn apart.
A surging ache within my heart.
And amongst my fear and my frustration
I had to move to a new location.
The years have passed and I have grown.
I now have children of my own.
Oh how I wish they could have seen
the grandmother you would have been.
You would have been an awesome one
because you were an awsome mum.
